Looking for an expert fantasy mapper

Fri Oct 2, 2009, 8:54 PM
I know sounds weird...

I write fantasy fiction on the side and I have some old maps that I drew in the 80's that I'd like to have drawn up by someone with some real artistic talent in that area. ;)

I wonder what something like that costs?

  • Listening to: Metric
  • Reading: Treasure of the Sierra Madre - B. Traven
  • Watching: BSG on Blue Ray!
  • Playing: LOTR Online - Vilya - Moonbiter, Tuddin, Thulkin
  • Eating: Kashi Strawberry fields Cereal
  • Drinking: coffee

I actually design fantasy maps as a hobby, using an autocad program called campaign cartographer. If you're interested, send me a note. I'd be happy to send some examples, but I haven't managed to submit any to DA. Otherwise, you can download the program, for $44.95 at [link] , and re-draw the maps yourself. The program makes it fairly easy for anyone to produce beautiful maps with just a little practice.Otherwise, I've been using the program for years, and have a pretty good handle on it as a result. :)

Considering what I've seen published in both modern (and popular) fantasy stories and actual maps from the medieval period, I'd say so long as it's not crayon drawings on construction paper they're probably pretty damn good as-is.

If you have any questions about what I've just posted, please don't hesitate to ask. Or, you know, cram it. They both work for me.

What did you really think of the series finale of BSG? (..."Watching: BSG on Blue Ray!")
:iconzedul:
I thought it was very deep... a bit philosophical, spiritual and yet skeptical - and overall note perfect if you are a thinker.

If you are an Atheist, Muslim, or a Christian who "knows" you are right - or you just like stuff that blows up, it might not be your thing.

P.S. the short answer is that I love it very much. :)
