I miss the 70's

Tue Jul 7, 2009, 9:56 AM
Driving my bicycle several miles to the store at 8 years old with my friends - no helmet, no adult supervision and just 8 bits in my pocket with which I could buy a coke, a hotdog, and a few Marvel comics.

Going fishing with dad at 4am - nobody else on the water or in site - watching the sun come up over Mt. Baker and catching half a dozen 25+ lb salmon to take home and bbq up or give to the nice old lady across the street.

Being able to play in the woods - the real woods, uninterrupted old growth forest that went on for at least twenty miles.

Going to any movie at the time with your favorite actress and knowing you were gonna see her naked... because back in the day our versions Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox, et. weren't prudes.

Yea... I miss the 70's.

Oh did I mention that I could go see Zepplin, Journey, Aerosmith, or Pink Floyd play LIVE for six bucks?

  • Listening to: Metric
  • Reading: nothing

  • Playing: Warcraft on Duskwood

The 70's rocked, as did the 80's...the first part of the 90's......

'Driving my bicycle several miles to the store at 8 years old with my friends - no helmet, no adult supervision and just 8 bits in my pocket with which I could buy a coke, a hotdog, and a few Marvel comics.'

Hell yeah, those were awesome times!

'Being able to play in the woods - the real woods, uninterrupted old growth forest that went on for at least twenty miles.'

Sometimes, we'd go into the woods to play in the morning and not come out until late at night...back in the days when everyone in your neighborhood knew everyone else and you had nothing to fear, to roam free and explore......

Great journal, man~

If you have any questions about what I've just posted, please don't hesitate to ask. Or, you know, cram it. They both work for me.

"Those were the days my friend I thought they never end..." song sang by Mary Hopkin. Nova SS coup and GTO, gas 17 cents a gallon 1969. Drive-ins, joints, LSD - Love, Sex and Drugs, etc. GREAT MUSIC and some GREAT CONCERTS: Deep Purple, Doors, Who, Blind Faith, Jefferson Airplane, Chicago, EL&;P, Fleetwood Mac - by the way Peter Green WROTE Black Magic Woman in 1967, and Gypsy Queen, instrumental, write by Hungarian jazz guitarist Gabor Szabo, one hit wonders Journey To The Center of the Mind by The Amboy Dukes with Ted Nugent, Psychotic Reaction by Count Five, Shape Of Things To Come byMax Frost and The Troopers; Bands Cream, Steve MIller, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Traffic, Eric Clapton - Duane Allman plays lead guitar solo for Layla, Animals, Buffalo Springfield, Bob Dylan, The Band, The Yardbirds, The Byrds, Moody Blues, Electric Prunes, the list can go on. I was a teenage returning to the the United States after living in Tainan, Taiwan for two years. I feel between 1963 to 1976 some of the best songs and bands came to came into existence because of the Vietnam War.
